Tribute for Trinity Hill
25/02/2014 10:49 Wine writer Matthew Jukes talks about a ‘sublime’ New Zealand syrah in the UK’s MoneyWeek financial magazine.
Turns out it’s a John Hancock Trinity Hill 2012 syrah from Hawke’s Bay, constructed by the man who has become a driving force for the Gimblett Gravels winegrowing district in the Bay.
Fifty years ago that land was pretty much worthless in the eyes of HB’s agricultural and fruit-growing people...but that was back then!
The UK magazine article pays homage to Hancock’s Homage Syrah…mentioning it in the same sentence as Hermitage and Cote-Rotie wines.
Matthew Jukes says the Trinity Hill entry level syrah is 'exceptional' and while it was put together in the 'challenging 2012 vintage' it is a chip off the Homage block.
